Nothing is more magical than water flowing in the desert. In the Superstition Mountains, most of the streams flow only after good soaking rains, which have been coming far too infrequently in recent years. Not only are these rains critical for supporting the complex array of plant and animal life in the desert, but they also add significantly to the beauty of the landscape, especially when the flowing water forms pools that reflect the surrounding hillsides and cliffs. These photos are from an afternoon walk along First Water stream on a cool, sunny December afternoon.
