It is a special treat for us to walk along the coast of the Pacific Northwest, breathing in the cool, salty sea air, feeling the moist ocean breezes on our faces, and soaking in the eternal sounds of the surf. This year we had ten days back in Yachats, a special place along the Oregon coast that we have come to cherish over the years. After a demanding summer of travel and projects, spending time by the sea allowed us to unwind and re-energize for the coming academic year. We are grateful to our dear friend who made it possible for us to stay in Yachats again this year, and we know that she will be able to appreciate these photos, all familiar sights to her from decades of walking these same paths. And, just for fun, at the end of the gallery is a shot of Mt. Hood, taken from the window of my airplane seat while descending into the Portland airport. I hope all these images bring you calm, cooling thoughts as you try to manage the concerns that might be filling your mind or your heart.
