During my visit in 2015 at National University of Galway, I had a 3-day weekend that featured almost perfect weather for excursions.
For the first 2 days of the weekend I traveled north of Connemara to the coast of County Mayo. I visited Carramore beach (with fine views of Croagh Patrick), Carrownisky Beach (considered a fine surfing beach), and Silver Strand. The tide was out, the sky was clear, and the water was calm, so I had a wonderful time capturing the amazing reflections of sky and mountains. It would be difficult to ever replicate the almost perfect conditions I had over those two days.
On the third day of my break I went to my favorite place in the Burren, Black Head, and walked up the hill to my favorite limestone flats just below the cliffs at the top of the Black Head ridge. Again I had marvelous weather and a beautiful sky. The wildflowers were at their peak, providing a sharp contrast with the rocky limestone pavements and boulders.
As always, while in Galway I had some very nice walks along Galway Bay and along the Corrib River. I was rewarded with beautiful afternoon light and a couple of incredible sunsets.
Thanks for coming along with me on these walks!
