Late afternoon walks along the central Oregon coast can be both refreshing and inspiring. The air is cool, the sun (when it appears) warms your face, the wind and the salt spray scrub your skin, the moist salt air washes your sinuses, and the constant pounding of the surf cleans your soul. Sunsets can be dramatic, both on clear days and when they interact with the fast-moving cloud formations. Such walks are perfect antidotes to a long summer of travel and intense workshops.
The photos in this gallery were taken in the area around Yachats, most during a low or receding tide. Our walks included the rocky coastline that runs along the town, the Yachats River delta, the long beach that stretches from Yachats to Walport, Cape Perpetua, and Ona Beach State Park.
