In Summer 2021 we commemorated the chance to safely travel again by staying a month at a secluded cottage in the hills above the Oregon coast. It was a unique experience for us, settling into a single spot for so long. We both had work to do during our stay, but every day we walked a beach about 5 miles from our cottage. It is a 3-mile stretch of undeveloped sandy shore. Truly a unique place. Even though we were walking the same beach, every day was different, offering us changing weather, clouds, and tides, as well as new discoveries. This experience was a perfect pandemic recovery strategy.
This gallery contains images from each of the 30 days we walked along the beach, as well as a few images from walks in the nearby forest and some midnight views of the night sky. I haven’t taken time yet to properly write about our month-long experience, so I hope this short overview will suffice for the moment. I sorted through my large set of photos and uploaded to this gallery the images I most like, but there are still multiple photos of the same scene, and quite a few that are similar in composition. I just haven’t decided yet which images to keep, but it certainly needs a significant reduction before it’s fair to ask you to look at them! So just pick out a few from the thumbnails that look interesting, or put it in slideshow mode while you are eating (a long) breakfast. At some point I will select a few highlights, but for now, I will have to depend on you to be selective in your viewing. Thank you for walking along with me through these memories of a meditative and peaceful stay on the Oregon coast.
