Sometimes the view you want to record with your camera is bigger than the lens of the camera. Fortunately, today’s post-processing software, such as Photoshop, allows you to stitch several photos together to create a panorama. It’s a lot of work, both to take the series of photos you intend to stitch together (the challenge is to keep everything lined up appropriately as you take the different photos) and to process them in Photoshop (although most of the alignment work is done for you by the software). But sometimes you really need the larger view to portray the scene more appropriately. Of course, one solution is to bring with you an extra-wide angle lens, but that’s an additional expense (quite a lot for a high quality ultra-wide angle lens), as well as additional weight and space in the backpack. The backup option is the stitched panorama, and for most purposes it works well.
In this gallery, I have posted several of the panoramas from our trip. Most of them portray scenes that were truly breathtaking when I experienced them, but I realize that it is impossible to fully represent what I saw. However, I hope the images allow you to glimpse at least some of the beauty of the scene. You’ll find valleys, beaches, mountains, lakes, rivers, and sunsets.
